The student body at PBC includes students those who are pursuing the dual GED/AOS degree, recent immigrants (many of whom are Chinese and Latino), first generation college students, and English language learners. PBC students are not only adjusting to a new and unfamiliar academic challenge, but also acquiring the skills that all students must learn as they transition into the college classroom. Many students are concerned about being taken seriously as capable learners as they balance family and work responsibilities with being a student. Our students deserve a faculty who can respect their personal realities and the challenges they face as well as promote academic achievement. We seek faculty who are committed to encouraging and supporting student performance, and who understand the importance of student engagement in the classroom. Applicants must have a commitment to addressing and meeting the challenges of educationally, socially, and economically disadvantaged students.
